I was picking up a pizza at our favorite pizza place the other night
when I saw a friend I haven’t seen in a few years.

He asked me if I was still in network marketing I told him I was.

He then asked if remembered back when he was involved in
network marketing I told him I did.

He then proceeded to tell me how most his friends started avoiding
him like he had the plague because he was so fired up about the
product and company he was with.

He told me he ended up quitting network marketing because he was
spending much more money than he was making.

He seemed puzzled wondering why I didn’t have the same problems.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to tell him that I found a better way
to market my home business.

I remember not so long ago when I was like that chicken running
around with his head cut-off, the first thing I think of is how I
marketed my MLM business back then (weird, I know, but that’s how
determined I was to be a success in this industry…that was ALL
I was focused on…and I felt like I was running around aimlessly
like that chicken for years).

It brought me back a bit and I remembered how I struggled for
quite some time online not understanding why I couldn’t add
one single distributor to my downline.

I was doing everything right!

told me would work.

I was calling my entire rolodex of friends and family like
my upline told me.

Wow! The price of gas keeps going higher and higher. Unfortunately the way prices keep going up it might get higher than it was in 2008.

When gas was approaching $3.00 a gallon in early 2006 several new network marketing companies came out with gas additives that were supposed to increase your gas mileage.

I joined one of those gas additive companies at that time mine was a new company. I joined it in the Pre-launch phase built a downline quick and some of my downline members did the same. The Company was growing fast then the unthinkable happened. The company folded up like many new mlm companies do.

What happened is one of the top original members got mad at others involved with the company so he decided to start spreading lies about the company and it’s product. Some how this person got the email address of everybody that was a distributor within the company and sent them several emails with false information to destroy the company.

It became so bad that anytime someone did a search on the internet about the product and/or company they would see all the bad information on message boards. So my nice monthly check quickly went to nothing. It became so hard to recruit and sell product that most distributors quit.

The lesson I learned from this was never join and build with a new network marketing company again. I decided if I planned on having a successful home business I would choose a well established company that couldn’t be destroyed so easily.

So my advice to others is avoid the dangers of a new company and choose a solid Network Marketing company that has been around for at least 10 years to build as your primary company. Because statistics show that most new companies only has a 50/50 chance of surviving for five years or more.

Now I’m not saying don’t ever join a new company and try their products looking for that wow product that almost sells itself. What I’m saying and most other veteran network marketers will say is choose the solid 10 year or older company to be your main focus so your home business will be around for a long time. Remember If you do choose to work with a new network marketing company you have a 50 percent chance of it going out of business in five years or less.

Are you tired of the old school network marketing techniques? You know the 3 foot rule, hanging flyers, bugging your family and friends, and holding hotel meetings.

I know that when I first joined my first network marketing company, I was told to use these same techniques. I was told to make a list of 100 people that I knew and basically call every one of them to ask and see if they would be interested in making some extra money.
I was only faced with questions I wasn’t able to answer, getting hung up on, and faced with nothing but rejection.

When I was officially shunned by everyone that I knew, all my upline told me to do was to go out and buy some opportunity leads.
This only led me to some more rejection and spending a bunch of money.

Now I was out of money, and had nothing to show for it.
Then just as I was going to give up, I found what I consider to be the “life saver” for my business.

Does your upline tell you to make a list of 100 friends, family and acquaintances with phone numbers and they will three way call these people with you or worse yet you call them by yourself and try to get them excited so they will join you on an opportunity call or come to your opportunity meeting? if this is the main way your upline builds this business then most likely they are feeding you a line of bull.

Don’t get me wrong there is a time to call your friends and family but not in the infancy of your business. This was the old way of building a network marketing business. Building your business in this manner also limits the amount of money you can make.

Most your friends and family our familiar with these tactics to get them to a opportunity meeting and most if not all the people you invited will never show up. This is a quick let down to you and your new recruit if you happen to get one and what if your new recruit gets a hold of a negative friend. I’ll tell what happens most likely they will quit and never work this business again.

Here’s a funny story I was doing this business before the internet. Hotel meetings and one on one presentations was the main way to build your business.

I had this big burly man as my new recruit he made his list of top prospects. Then a couple nights later we pulled in the drive way of one his friends on his list. The only thing my new recruit had to do was introduce me to his friend and I would take over from there. We even called his prospect before hand so he knew we were coming but when we got there my new recruit panicked. 

He would not get out of the car to go to his friends house he was scared to death, seriously. I tried to relieve his fairs the best I could to no avail. We ended up leaving his friends house and he quit the business that night. True story. That almost caused me to quit this business too.

This doesn’t need to happen anymore. There are several ways to generate good quality leads for free online and I can teach you how. So if your upline tells you to make a list, and that is his one and only prospecting tool then you need to stop listening to him!

What I have learned over the years with network marketing is the fact that most mlm start up companies fail. They seem to be going great then something always seems to happen to cause them to fail.

I know you probably have seen some of these companies yourself that looked like a sure thing go under too, maybe you were even involved with one that went under. I know how it happens you see this brand new company that looks like it has everything going for it and has a great pre-launch that every body and their brother gets involved, it looks so good. The company seems to be doing great then a few months later the company closes it’s doors for good. This happened to me so many times  I finally decided to chose a company that has been in business for over ten years, has a good track record with their products and is always paying on time to become my primary company to build with. A company that I know will still be around after building a large team with them. I recommend you do the same and find a stable company that has been in business for at least ten years with a good track record.

If you have recently been burnt from that sure thing going out of business you need to stop before you loose your credibility. Trust me it wont be the last mlm company  to go out of business.

Oh and while I’m thinking about this don’t get involved in the mlm of the year club. Don’t follow your upline to every company they hop on that’s so much better than that last company they were in six months ago. You see what happens is the top sponsor in your upline gets an offer from an mlm company offering him a bunch of incentives to move his downline from the current company your with to this new company. So you move to this new company that is “so much better” than the last company. Then a year later this top sponsor gets an offer from another company better than the last offer, so on and on you go.  Please don’t make the mistake of following them every time they move to another company it just screws up all your marketing efforts and you have to start all over from scratch  again.

So find and stay with that good established company and continue to build with them.
